Reigniting Your Creative Spark

The Art of Cracking Your Own Creative Code

with Liza Palmer and Eileen Cook

For so many of us, creativity felt like home.

It was not only where we found ourselves, but the playground where we let our hopes and dreams run wild. Creativity became the warm, crackling fire in the hearth that sustained us during life’s ups and downs.

But, what happens when it feels like the fire has gone out?

This gentle, but impactful workshop creates a map back home. A way to release the guilt, and embrace the joy of creativity.

Why This Workshop

It’s time to rediscover the joy in writing:
  • Know your why and what drives your story
  • Learn the connection between theme and character
  • Discover how plot and structure make your story undeniable
  • Uncover your character’s false belief to illuminate the path forward to a deeper, more connected story
  • Understand the nuts and bolts to scenes and structure that turn your story into a page turner for you and the reader
  • Stay curious with a workbook containing prompts and practical tips that stir new ideas or awaken excitement for an existing manuscript
  • Realization that what you thought was The Answer- isn’t.

Why We Can Help

We are multi-published, award winning, authors who have learned the hard way that creativity is a life-long journey that requires the courage to nurture your vulnerabilities as much as a commitment to craft.
Our workshops are accessible and relatable. A chance to have an pen and honest exchange of ideas about what it means to be artists in an authentic way. Participants leave with simple, deconstructed steps to guide them forward regardless of their starting point.
Liza Palmer is the author of ten novels. Her debut, Conversations with the Fat Girl was an international bestseller and optioned for series by HBO. Her fifth novel, Nowhere but Home, won the Willie Morris Prize for Southern Fiction and is currently in development. A two-time Emmy-nominated writer who gets to write for Marvel sometimes, she lives in Los Angeles and is a Creative Executive at BuzzFeed.

Eileen is less cool, but better dressed.  (Also has published over a dozen novels – winning the John Spray Award for her novel, The Hanging Girl: One Lie Too Many. She’s published several non-fiction writing guides and is an instructor with the Writer’s Studio Simon Fraser University. Eileen is a co-founder and mentor of The Creative Academy for Writers. She lives in Vancouver with her two ill behaved dogs.)
